Rejection in love
Rejection in society
Rejection in friendship
Rejection in the family
Filling up with emotion
Like a buffet at the carvery
Cuts too deep to mend
A long time it feels to recovery
A cold heart to the bitter end
And a fake smile till they call me a friend
No matter how close you once were
The distance is now forever in their favour
Falling in love
Ends in rejection or death
You've either found the one
Or you're left in a mess
Rejection in love
Rejection in society
Rejection in friendship
Rejection in the family

ReplyDeleteThis is a lively, thoughtful poem with a strong rhythm and some evocative imagery. I particularly like the lines:
'Falling in love
Ends in rejection or death'
Good stuff!
In your response, please answer the following questions:
• What are you, as a writer, saying about the theme of rejection in this piece? Do you have a message you want the reader to take away, or is your intention more ambiguous?
• Can you make any connections between the way the theme is explored in your story and in ‘Huckleberry Finn’?
